Cheap Holiday Events For Smart People

For anyone who is looking for something a little different there are a lot of options this holiday season.Many groups and orginizations from across the country form entertainment to airlines to rental carswith players such as Disney, Southwest Airlines and Hertz are all reaching out to try and make things more affordable and offer prices that persuade people to spendmore in these economic times.

Cities and towns all over are offering more local events to help people feel that they can stillafford to do something without spending an arm and a leg. Groups such as the Maumee Bay Carvers and the Friends of Magee Marsh support events in the Port Clinton OH area while people in the Nashville TN area who are looking for a fun outing without spending your Christmas savings can find something to do in Music City with a handy guide to free events and happenings.

Wooden Feather Day

The first is Wooden Feather Day noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Bird Center.Area wood carvers will be on hand and each will submit a wooden feather that they have carved. The visitors will vote on their favorite feather and awards will be presented to the winners. The carvers will also have items for sale. There is also a marsh walk scheduled at 1:30 p.m. that provides a chance to see some of the area that is usually closed to the public. There will be a warm fire and free refreshments also. This event is co sponsored by Maumee Bay Carvers and the Friends of Magee Marsh. The other special free event planned is the second annual Holiday Open House, 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5 at the Bird Center. There will be childrens activities, a raffle, and Christmas cookies for sale as part of the event. Magee Marsh Wildlife Area is located at 13229 W.
